This week, we got a chance to see how the communities have evolved and see how everyone has aged.\u00a0 We also spend a lot of time with Magna’s new group.\u00a0 It was a very loaded episode.\u00a0 My name is Kent, and I ask 9 episode-specific questions, and 2 bonus questions, and that’s how we get the 9 Deuce.\u00a0 Any comments in\u00a0BOLD<\/strong> are written by me.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy and if you or someone you know may want to do this blog, contact me, leave a comment, whatever.\u00a0 The contact info is at the bottom of this blog.<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Is there a character that you would fear crossing than Carol? \u00a0If so, who?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Bob: \u00a0I would fear crossing her son, clearly. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, especially since he looks so similar to Sophia. \u00a0I think most of you know that they are real-life brother and sister along with younger Henry. \u00a0Still, messing with the kid is just a bad, bad decision.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Kristi: \u00a0Nope. Carol is the shit! <\/span>(I think the hair makes her scarier in some way.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Chris: \u00a0Carol has had far too many badass moments. \u00a0I would be terrified to piss her off. <\/span>(That feels like a good blog question at some point. \u00a0Her best 3 or 5 badass moments.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Raylene: \u00a0Only one that may be close to Carol would be how Michonne is now after the loss of Rick. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, if anybody messed with RJ or Judith, you\u2019d think that. \u00a0I\u2019d give the honors to Michonne, but Negan lives and I think she could have changed that.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Kent: \u00a0I can make an argument for a few like Maggie, Michonne, or even Negan. \u00a0Still, I think I fear Carol the most. Her justice is usually swift and awesome.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. \u00a0Lauren Cohen\u2019s name wasn\u2019t in the credits. \u00a0Will we get an explanation next week? Do you have any ideas on what it may be?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Bob: \u00a0Nah, I don’t think we get an explanation this season. Maybe AMC is thinking her new show will fail. <\/span>(Normally I don\u2019t wish a new show ill will, but if it\u2019s the difference of getting Maggie back on the show, I will be selfish and hope for her quick return.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Kristi: \u00a0I’m not sure if we will get an explanation so soon. I feel like we will be learning more of the new people and the way of the world. Since we didn’t see little Herschel, I’m thinking she left the group for some reason. <\/span>(That\u2019s going to be the big key. \u00a0If we see Little Herschel when we get to Hilltop. \u00a0I don\u2019t think that we will. I think it buys time to tell the story when it\u2019s needed. \u00a0If we do see him, then I will be more concerned, honestly.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Chris: \u00a0I think they are waiting for her new show to fail. \u00a0They can definitely get to the midseason finale before having to explain where she is. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, they have so many new avenues to explore, they can really go a long time without bringing her up. \u00a0They already altered enough of the story with Earl. I am intrigued though.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Raylene: \u00a0I hope we get some type of story as to what happened to her. \u00a0<\/span>(Probably in February or March.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Kent: \u00a0They are heading toward Hilltop this week. \u00a0I am curious how they avoid it. I don\u2019t think we\u2019re getting an explanation this half season. \u00a0Maybe a quick comment alluding to her, but that is it. Maybe she is hanging out with Heath. I think the explanation is that she learning things with Georgie. \u00a0That is the easiest explanation for the short term.<\/span><\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      1. \u00a0Kids are kind of a big deal in this episode. \u00a0Aside from Judith, we saw Gracie, RJ, and grown-up Henry. \u00a0Which of the 3 characters not named Judith are you most interested in?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Bob: \u00a0I have no interest in Michonne’s new child. I can’t say I am terribly interested in any of the kids besides Judith. \u00a0<\/span>(I feel RJ is just going to be the new Judith. \u00a0A character that is there but serves very little purpose, and with no further time jumps incoming, I think I would have considered not adding RJ. \u00a0They aren\u2019t going to kill the kid, so he is just going to exist and be an excuse from time to time.)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Kristi: \u00a0Grown-up Henry is annoying as hell. I’m going with the new kid, Kelly. I enjoyed his character. \u00a0<\/span>(I was trying to figure out who the hell Kelly was. \u00a0Then I read the next question. I had a moment, to say the very least. \u00a0The girl who plays Kelly was very entertaining on Talking Dead last week.)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Chris: \u00a0Henry, only because I think his story might follow Carl\u2019s from the comics. \u00a0<\/span>(It seems inevitable, doesn\u2019t it? \u00a0Which means Ezekiel will follow more of Rick\u2019s role, or maybe Carol will replace Rick\u2019s role with the upcoming story. \u00a0I don\u2019t know which.)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Raylene: \u00a0If Henry smartens his ass up then him. <\/span>(He\u2019s going to have to smarten up a bit. \u00a0Of course, if Chris and I are correct in our assumptions, he is going to be the reason for some bad business.)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Kent: \u00a0I want to say, Gracie. \u00a0Aaron is such a good character, maybe there is some hope. \u00a0Henry has the most potential, but Gracie has my attention. I will probably not see her the rest of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

        1. \u00a0Which member of Magna\u2019s group do you like the best early on, or who has your interest? \u00a0Their names are Magna, Luke, Yumiko (head injury), Connie (deaf), and Kelly (the young one).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

           <\/p>\n

          Bob: \u00a0Magna has my interest, but I don’t like her at all. She is\u2026 nuts. \u00a0<\/span>(I don\u2019t like her either. \u00a0I didn\u2019t like her in the comics and don\u2019t like what little bit I have seen on the show, but maybe she can grow into an interesting character.)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Kristi: \u00a0I really like Luke and Kelly. <\/span>(Kelly is going to be a very fun character that can hopefully provide some moments of levity.)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Chris: \u00a0Luke and Magna. <\/span>(I honestly thought you\u2019d say Yumiko.)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Raylene: Luke seems to be the moral compass so he\u2019s doomed but I do like him <\/span>(Moral compasses have a bad time. \u00a0As it was, he was a dude surviving with 4 women. \u00a0I feel that he\u2019s paid his dues.)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Kent: \u00a0Connie and Luke. \u00a0I fear Luke\u2019s existence though as the moral compass. \u00a0Connie could be compelling though. Much like Wendell in Fear TWD, it\u2019s interesting to see how they write a character with disabilities. \u00a0Wendell became a favorite of mine because he was unique. I think Connie has that potential.<\/span><\/p>\n

           <\/p>\n

          1. \u00a0We got a fun scene with Negan and Judith. \u00a0What was your takeaway from that scene?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

             <\/p>\n

            Bob: \u00a0That was great. Judith will let him out at some point. Negan turned around that was good to see. \u00a0<\/span>(I really want to see that conversation happen when she releases Negan and everyone is like \u201cwhy would you do that\u201d and she just lays down the law. \u00a0That would be fantastic.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Kristi: \u00a0I think he is growing nicer. I think he will eventually get out and join the group. <\/span>(I agree with you, at least to some extent.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Chris: \u00a0As evil as he comes across sometimes, he shows a soft spot for kids. \u00a0I think when the whisperers eventually come for Alexandria, he will help them defend. \u00a0<\/span>(That probably comes from him being a gym teacher, I would think. \u00a0He could become the male Carol in that he has great scenes with kids. \u00a0I am fine with that.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Raylene: \u00a0He seems to not be in his dark place anymore but damn, how long is his ass in that cell? \u00a0<\/span>(Well he was supposed to be in there like NWO, 4 Life. \u00a0We all know that is highly unlikely though.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Kent: \u00a0This was my favorite scene of the episode. \u00a0I think that Negan see potential in kids. I would go so far as to say that I think he hated what he grew into out of his need to survive, and there\u2019s something in Negan\u2019s head where he believes that things can be different. \u00a0He clearly thought things could have been very different with Carl. I loved this scene and watched it a few times.<\/span><\/p>\n

             <\/p>\n

            1. \u00a0Rosita appears to have a relationship with Gabriel, and Eugene appeared to be on the verge of confessing his love to her. \u00a0Do you prefer Gabriel or Eugene for a Rosita relationship?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

               <\/p>\n

              Bob: \u00a0Gabriel – She chewed Eugene out severely before. People are feeling good and they want to make more people. \u00a0<\/span>(Now if only someone scavenged some Barry White, everything will be good.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Kristi: \u00a0Eugene. It was just weird watching her with Gabriel. They have zero chemistry. \u00a0<\/span>(I am struggling coming up with someone that Rosita has chemistry with. \u00a0I could see her and Magna maybe, but that would be very random.<\/b><\/p>\n

              Chris: \u00a0I hate when a relationship just randomly exists. \u00a0That being said, I just can\u2019t see Rosita and Eugene as a couple, and I like Gabriel as a character. \u00a0He did talk to her a lot after she tried to kill Negan. <\/span>(This was the best point and I didn\u2019t think about their talks. \u00a0It\u2019s the closest rational explanation that I have heard so far.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Raylene: \u00a0I don\u2019t think she\u2019ll ever return the feelings for poor Eugene so Gabe it is. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, I think Eugene would annoy the hell out of her.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Kent: \u00a0I don\u2019t think Rosita is right for Eugene or Gabe. \u00a0Both seem like bad choices based on chemistry. I\u2019d rather see Gabriel with Dianne of the Kingdom and Eugene with Laura. \u00a0Rosita has no real chemistry with any male character that I can think of, who is still single. Daryl is the closest, and I still say nay to that. \u00a0Just saying, I feel bad for Gabriel.<\/span><\/p>\n

               <\/p>\n

              1. \u00a0We got to see the Whisperers. \u00a0Do you have any initial thoughts?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                Bob: \u00a0This is truly a great twist! I can’t wait to see what happens with this. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

                Chris: \u00a0Excited!!!! \u00a0These aren\u2019t people who want to be in charge or anything. \u00a0They are not like the other \u201cbad guys.\u201d I don\u2019t want to spoil anything, but some of the whisperers are awesome characters. \u00a0<\/span>(I\u2019m not sure if they are necessarily bad guys. \u00a0They serve as antagonists, obviously. I am curious how they handle the \u201canimalistic behavior\u201d of the group considering what they can show on TV. \u00a0I think the show will paint them as more evil to make it more clear-cut rather than letting the fans decide.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                Raylene: \u00a0YEEHAW\u2026\u2026..<\/span><\/p>\n

                Kent: \u00a0I want to see Ryan Hurst.<\/span><\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                1. \u00a0Is Daryl just living alone in the woods?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                   <\/p>\n

                  Bob: \u00a0Yes, he is a nomad. \u00a0<\/span>(Remember when he and Merle were Nomads for like one whole episode before coming back to the prison and saving Officer Friendly?)<\/b><\/p>\n

                  Chris: Yeah, because we need at least a few episodes of Daryl being a moody drifter\u2026.. Again. \u00a0<\/span>(I was legitimately wondering if they are waiting until the second half of the season before making Daryl the official torch carrier. \u00a0It may make some sense given how much his contract went up, supposedly.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                  Raylene: \u00a0It appears that he\u2019s doing a Carol when she lived just outside of the Kingdom. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, I can see him doing that. \u00a0He seems disinterested in things. I get why they make Daryl like this, but it feels like a been there done that at times.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                  Kent: \u00a0I don\u2019t say this in a mean or snarky way. \u00a0I don\u2019t care about Daryl. We have so many characters that need to be given direction, I\u2019m fine if Daryl waits out a few more episodes. \u00a0I\u2019d rather get more information on all of the progress and advances that have been made in the time jump.<\/span><\/p>\n

                   <\/p>\n

                  1. \u00a0Do you feel that Michonne is the leader of Alexandria, or do you genuinely think it is a committee?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    Bob: \u00a0Michonne is in charge, the committee fears her and therefore follows her.<\/span><\/p>\n

                    Kristi: \u00a0She seems to think she is the leader. I see the committee thing but I think her voice is the final spoken. <\/span><\/p>\n

                    Chris: \u00a0I think the committee is there for input, but Michonne is definitely in charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

                    Raylene: \u00a0Michonne is definitely The Queen of Alexandria <\/span><\/p>\n

                    Kent: \u00a0Well, I thought that somebody would choose the committee and provide some piece of knowledge that makes me think on my response. \u00a0Oh well, it\u2019s a clean sweep. If the committee makes a decision that Michonne disagrees with, I am willing to bet Michonne still gets what she wants. <\/span><\/p>\n

                    Bonus Deuce<\/span><\/p>\n

                    1. \u00a0Will Ezekiel regret letting Henry move to Hilltop?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                       <\/p>\n

                      Bob: \u00a0Yeah, especially when Henry DIES! \u00a0<\/span>(He\u2019s not going to die\u2026…for a while at least.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                      Raylene: \u00a0No he\u2019ll be fine until the fair. \u00a0<\/span>(The fair is supposed to be a fun time for all though.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                      Kent: \u00a0Based on my uncertainty on which character will cross the border, I don\u2019t have a legit answer here.<\/span><\/p>\n

                       <\/p>\n

                      1. \u00a0Laura is a member of the Alexandria committee. \u00a0She is the blond girl who was a Savior and had some scenes mainly with Eugene. \u00a0Do you think that they will eventually tell us what happened with the former Saviors?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Bob: \u00a0Probably. I don’t think it is necessary after they got BURRRNNNNNED! \u00a0<\/span>(Kid tested, Russell approved.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Chris: \u00a0They probably will, but it\u2019s not needed. \u00a0All the \u201cimportant\u201d saviors don\u2019t live there anymore or are dead. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, I am disappointed at how all of the big name Saviors are dead. \u00a0Arat, Regina, Gavin, Jared, & Simon are all dead. Dwight and Sherry are MIA as far as we know. \u00a0Negan is in jail, and Laura is in the committee. Aside from Aldon, did I miss anybody that had any name value?)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Raylene: \u00a0I think we\u2019ve gotten the drift either they live throughout the communities or have started groups like poor Mud\u2019s. \u00a0<\/span>(Mud acted like an amateur. \u00a0After surviving the ZA for say 8-9 years, you\u2019d think he\u2019d be smarter. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Kent: \u00a0I\u2019m not sure if there are other Saviors any more. \u00a0I am guessing most splintered and joined other communities and blended in, or they became nomads. \u00a0I am going to say that we won\u2019t get any further updates. Dwight is the last chip to fall.<\/span><\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Final Thoughts – Did this feel like a very different or new show, or was it more of the same old stuff?<\/span><\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Bob: \u00a0It is as new as the first episode this season. \u00a0Pining for Rick really needs to stop.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Kristi: \u00a0Same show, new stuff. <\/span><\/p>\n

                        Chris: \u00a0Same show, but with a different vibe.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Raylene: \u00a0It had a new vibe to it<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Kent: \u00a0It\u2019s like when a show gets canceled, but eventually gets picked up by a different network. \u00a0Arrested Development or Sliders are 2 good examples. There is a different feel but you are comfortable with the characters in altered states, basically.<\/span><\/p>\n
