We have a new logo, so I hope that pleases a chunk of you.\u00a0 We are back for the 9th season.\u00a0 I have a good chunk of my normal crew back to help me out.\u00a0 We will most likely have shorter blogs moving forward, but this is a season premiere, so we went all out.\u00a0 My name is Kent, and I ask 9 episode-specific questions, and 2 bonus questions, and that’s how we get the 9 Deuce.\u00a0 Any comments in\u00a0BOLD<\/strong> are written by me.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy and if you or someone you know may want to do this blog, contact me, leave a comment, whatever.\u00a0 The contact info is at the bottom of this blog.<\/p>\n

    Bob: \u00a0Surely. Where is John when you need him?! \u00a0I suppose there is no choice still beside an agricultural society. \u00a0<\/span>(It\u2019s funny because John would totally fit the vibe, but I don\u2019t know where exactly he\u2019d fit in. \u00a0I\u2019d think Hilltop initially, but he may have more fun in The Kingdom. We are referring to John Dorie from Fear The Walking Dead for those who haven\u2019t seen season 4 and how great it was\u2026..well the first half was.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Kristi: \u00a0There was a western vibe? <\/span>(I mean, it\u2019s not exactly like Tombstone, but we have horses, wagons, pioneer mentality. \u00a0If only we had a teenage boy in a cowboy hat.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Chris: \u00a0I do. It\u2019s nice to see a change. \u00a0And since they are basically all farmers, they might as well look the part. \u00a0<\/span>(Which is why I am mad about Tobin dying. \u00a0Come on, he looks like he should be a farmer.)<\/b><\/p>\n

    Raylene: \u00a0I guess you would have become some type of farmer because you\u2019d need to have some food source. <\/span>(Like sorghum?) <\/b><\/p>\n

    Kent: \u00a0I just wanted Rick to call Daryl his Huckleberry. \u00a0Actually, that is so something Eugene would have said to someone at Sanctuary. \u00a0One can still hope.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. \u00a0What are your thoughts on Daryl no longer wanting to lead Sanctuary?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

       <\/p>\n

      Bob: \u00a0Whoever runs Sanctuary is a beggar. \u00a0That’s not Daryl’s style and he was tortured there. \u00a0Talk about PTSD! <\/span>(I get what you\u2019re saying about the begging. \u00a0I do think that Carl will not be a beggar though. \u00a0I picture her saying that she needs something, being told no, and then taking it.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Kristi: \u00a0I can’t say I blame him. I wouldn’t want to step foot in that place after all he went through. <\/span>(But where else can he listen to Easy Street?)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Chris: \u00a0I\u2019m pretty sure he didn\u2019t enjoy his last experience living in Sanctuary. \u00a0He\u2019s on Maggie\u2019s side in all this, so he wants to be there. <\/span>(Yeah, he wants to be second in command, not first. \u00a0Always a bridesmaid.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Raylene: \u00a0I can\u2019t blame him at all I don\u2019t know why Rick put him there in the first place. \u00a0<\/span>(For drama. \u00a0Eugene should have been because they liked and respected Eugene.)<\/b><\/p>\n

      Kent: \u00a0It seemed like a missed opportunity to get a group to side with Hilltop.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. \u00a0How silly was the opening with Ezekiel breaking through the glass? \u00a0Talk about the whole scene if you like.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        Bob: \u00a0Before this, the spider walker. \u00a0Really, those spiders didn’t damage the brain? Then the glass floor scene. \u00a0I do not think there was any risk of that floor breaking. It was in spectacular condition and had to sustain many people walking in the building, then the amount of vibrations plus weight on it is nothing compared to one heavy wagon. Before Ezekiel fell, I asked out loud, what is he doing out there, he isn’t doing anything besides looking like he is running away from bees. \u00a0<\/span>(SO much to acknowledge here. \u00a0Yeah, the spiders seemingly would have damaged the brain, I concur based on everything I know about video games. \u00a0No, that floor surely would have held fine because it was designed to hold X amount of weight. Just because bodies are rotting, the structural integrity of this building should not be. \u00a0The bee comment is just funny.)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Kristi: \u00a0It very expected. You knew someone was going to fall. I knew he wasn’t going to die so it was really just pointless to me. <\/span>(A way to make the season premiere longer!)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Raylene: \u00a0Well since I\u2019m watching this shit again it was expected too bad the Oceanside crew weren\u2019t all on there. \u00a0<\/span>(The Whisperers will kill all of Oceanside. \u00a0Fact.)<\/b><\/p>\n

        Kent: \u00a0I liked how they did it, but it was just a question of who was falling. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. \u00a0Why is Carol so willing to take over for Daryl rather than stay at the Kingdom?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

           <\/p>\n

          Bob: \u00a0She knows Daryl needs a break, he is going to snap soon. Live free or die hard. She also wants some space from Ezekiel. Ezekiel is relaxed and Carol doesn’t trust normalcy. \u00a0<\/span>(SO is Daryl going to Die Hard With A Vengeance?)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Kristi: \u00a0She’s doing it to help out. I disagree with it but I understand where she\u2019s coming from. <\/span>(You\u2019d prefer that she stay with the King?)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Chris: \u00a0She\u2019s just trying to help Daryl out in my opinion. \u00a0<\/span>(That is the most obvious and reasonable answer. \u00a0I don\u2019t know what it\u2019s doing in this blog.)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Raylene: \u00a0She has definitely noticed Daryl\u2019s struggle with running Sanctuary and trying to help him. \u00a0<\/span>(Yvette is not happy.)<\/b><\/p>\n

          Kent: \u00a0I think that she fears committing too much to Ezekiel. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

           <\/p>\n

          1. \u00a0Kent died last season, Ken died in this episode. \u00a0What does the show have against these names?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

             <\/p>\n

            Bob: \u00a0It is obvious TWD is against the consonants N and T. <\/span>(Yeah, and it\u2019s NoT cool.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Kristi: \u00a0They heard about this blog and are intentionally doing it to mess with you. <\/span>(Yup, which makes no sense. \u00a0This is free advertising for them. \u00a0Bastards!)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Chris: \u00a0They are too similar in length to Carl\u2026. <\/span>(That dagger in my back can\u2019t go much deeper.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Raylene: \u00a0They are out to get you <\/span>(I hope they wear burlap sack hoods when they get me.)<\/b><\/p>\n

            Kent: \u00a0TWD, I feel like I\u2019m being bullied by your show.<\/span><\/p>\n

            1. \u00a0Gregory made his move. \u00a0Gregory got lynched. Did you want to see Gregory continue to turn people against Maggie or was it time for him to go? \u00a0You all know my answer.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

               <\/p>\n

              Bob: \u00a0This was overdue and timed right to make Maggie seem Neganish. <\/span>(Let me know when she gets a cool weapon named Glenn. \u00a0Ohhh, that should be a question for next week. What would Maggie\u2019s weapon of choice be that she\u2019d name after Glenn? \u00a0We know that Herschel Jr will be gifted the unlimited ammo shotgun.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Kristi: \u00a0I was glad to see him go finally. It was long overdue. I enjoyed his anguish as he was waiting for the cutting of the rope also. <\/span>(Anguish is a word that is not used enough on these blogs. \u00a0It should be considering what we tend to write about.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Chris: \u00a0I liked the idea of it being at the beginning of the season. \u00a0Showed what we can expect of New Negan?? Maggan???? I\u2019m going to have to come up with a Negan-esque nickname for her\u2026 <\/span>(I like the name Maggan. \u00a0I\u2019d say keep it and us it. I will add this alternative.\u00a0 She goes by Margaret to taunt Gregory.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Raylene: \u00a0Poor Gregory he was just on borrowed time he should have had a better plan then only two people taking her on. <\/span>(It was a solid sneak attack. \u00a0No different than Jaime Lannister going for broke last season. \u00a0You gotta take the shot when you can.)<\/b><\/p>\n

              Kent: \u00a0I liked everything that he tried. \u00a0He paid the price, but that was the right time to strike. \u00a0He also got a good death. He didn\u2019t have to get eaten alive. \u00a0I am so going to miss Gregory.<\/span><\/p>\n

              1. \u00a0Should Earl have also gotten lynched? \u00a0Also, did any of you pick up on Tammy being played by Brett Butler of Grace Under Fire fame?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Bob: \u00a0Gregory’s actions were treasonous. Earl was just a pawn used under duress. Also, one punch from Earl and Maggie is either dead or unconscious. \u00a0<\/span>(Huh, that visual of Earl punching Maggie\u2026..hmm. \u00a0Maybe that\u2019s for later.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                Kristi: \u00a0I don’t think he should have gotten got but I think he should have to have some kind of timeout. \u00a0Maybe sit in the corner and think about his actions. I know he blames Maggie for what happened but she is kinda in control so trying to kill her does not seem very smart. Plus he made little Hersels stroller fall over. Not cool Earl, Not cool. <\/span>(Good point about the stroller. \u00a0I thought that would have really pissed people off. \u00a0You\u2019d really like the Earl character in the comic better. \u00a0Really nice blacksmith guy who takes Carl under his wing.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                Chris: \u00a0No. Gregory got him drunk and manipulated him. \u00a0He will probably get locked up. <\/span>(Yeah, you have a point. \u00a0The comics do have a \u201cjail\u201d of sorts at Hilltop. \u00a0I won\u2019t say any more because I think it may be a plot point this season.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                Raylene: \u00a0No Earl was tricked poor fella and I had told you I knew Tammy from somewhere at least. \u00a0<\/span>(She was also in The Leftovers, right?)<\/b><\/p>\n

                Kent: \u00a0Negan wouldn\u2019t have tolerated that. \u00a0The Governor surely wouldn\u2019t have. Maggie, why so weak?<\/span><\/p>\n

                1. \u00a0What do you think will be Maggie\u2019s undoing?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                   <\/p>\n

                  Bob: \u00a0Her recreating a Negan empire where only she knows best. Ironic that Daryl took Dwight’s job\u2026 <\/span>(Love the Dwight comment. \u00a0So true. Does that make Jesus the Simon character? \u00a0Or would that be Enid?)<\/b><\/p>\n

                  Chris: \u00a0Is it confirmed she\u2019s leaving? \u00a0If so, I could see her getting drunk with power and causing conflicts with the saviors, leading to her death. \u00a0Or Negan escapes and she goes after him. <\/span>(It is confirmed. \u00a0Whether it\u2019s this half season or not is up for debate. \u00a0I imagine that they stretch her and Rick\u2019s exits as long as possible, and with 47 main characters, they can stretch the 6 episode appearances out for a long time.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                  Raylene: \u00a0It seems everyone thinks she\u2019ll get got from turning into Negan. I say perhaps she\u2019ll get bit protecting Herschel JR. \u00a0<\/span>(I could see them giving her the protective mother death.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                  Kent: \u00a0Alpha-bet soup. \u00a0Nah, just Alpha.<\/span><\/p>\n

                  1. \u00a0What do you think will be Rick\u2019s undoing?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    Bob: \u00a0He is very weak appearing. Pleading instead of commanding with charisma. His lack of taking charge and being a leader is his undoing. \u201cCarl!\u201d \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, they have made him seem weaker. \u00a0Even in the comic, despite having the F\u2019d up leg from the Negan encounter, he still seemed stronger appearing somehow. \u00a0I don\u2019t like a weak Rick.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                    Chris: \u00a0He\u2019ll go out as a hero, saving his people while being overwhelmed by a herd of walkers. \u00a0Then Tara can finally become leader! <\/span>(Would I stop watching TWD if Tara became the leader? \u00a0I am wondering what the answer to that is.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                    Raylene: \u00a0I say no undoing perhaps an overthrow of power and he gets banished like he did to Carol. \u00a0<\/span>(When I think of getting banished, I think of Stan Marsh getting banished for not voting.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                    Kent: \u00a0Alpha, which will instantly make her the biggest threat in TWD history, aside from Oceanside, of course.<\/span><\/p>\n

                     <\/p>\n

                    Bonus Deuce<\/span><\/p>\n

                    1. \u00a0In hindsight, do you think the writers regret killing off Carl with both Rick and Maggie leaving?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                       <\/p>\n

                      Bob: \u00a0I think this everytime I see Rick’s face. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, the loss is still there. \u00a0Andy Lincoln plays it so well.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                      Kristi: \u00a0Absolutely! Bring back Carl! \u00a0<\/span>(On my birthday!)<\/b><\/p>\n

                      Chris: \u00a0Probably. \u00a0But at the same time, Chandler wanted to leave so I don\u2019t know if they had much choice. \u00a0These are the problems that come up with shows that have been on for a long time. <\/span>(I have read that Chandler was surprised by the decision and kinda pissed off. \u00a0I remember wondering, but he had just bought a house closer to where they filmed. \u00a0I don\u2019t think that he wanted to leave.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                      Kent: \u00a0Yeah, obviously they regret it. \u00a0Well, Gimple may not, depending on what happened.<\/span><\/p>\n

                       <\/p>\n

                      1. \u00a0In hindsight, do you think the writers regret that scene at the end of last season with Maggie, Daryl, and Jesus?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Bob: \u00a0No, even if they don’t do anything with it, it adds an edge of suspense to the show. I feel uncertain of what is going to happen. \u00a0<\/span>(It certainly gave us something to ponder while the show was on vacation.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Kristi:\u00a0 I don’t think so.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Chris: \u00a0No. I think it was a good idea to show some division. \u00a0Rick not killing Negan needed to come with consequences. <\/span>(You\u2019re right about the consequences.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Raylene: \u00a0Nah they don\u2019t really regret anything. \u00a0<\/span>(They better regret killing off T Dog.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Kent: \u00a0I think so. \u00a0If they had known about Rick and Maggie leaving, they sure as hell would have given themselves more wiggle room. I think that a cliffhanger of sorts made sense, as did consequences, as mentioned above, but I think they would have altered it.<\/span><\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Final Thoughts – Who\u2019s character development are you most excited to see this season outside of the Whisperers?<\/span><\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Bob: \u00a0Judith. She isn’t like Rick. In the crow scene, Rick is leaning in to her as her dad and she is pulling away. Little kid thing or done by the show? \u00a0<\/span>(Very good observation. \u00a0That is interesting. She\u2019s Shane\u2019s daughter after all.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Chris: \u00a0Enid. I\u2019ve liked her character and want to see how she continues to evolve. \u00a0I was going to say Gregory, but\u2026\u2026\u2026 <\/span>(Enid could very well end up in so many different roles moving forward. \u00a0I think she could be the breakout star this season.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Raylene: \u00a0Nope you know I have been waiting so long for the Whisperers the only reason why I tuned back in this season. \u00a0<\/span>(Yeah, they really are the big thing that is holding my interest.)<\/b><\/p>\n

                        Kent: \u00a0It\u2019s a toss-up between Eugene, Carol, and Jadis. \u00a0I think Eugene because he already is important, but he may end up even more important on the TV show. \u00a0Carol because she is going to be a leader again, and she should have been all along. Jadis because she\u2019s awesome.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        One final note, this episode is named “A New Beginning”.\u00a0 The 5th Friday the 13th was called “Friday the 13th: A Bew Beginning” and spoiler alert here, Jason was really Jason in this film.\u00a0 It was Tommy Jarvis as Jason, or possessed by him.\u00a0 Is there any connection?\u00a0 Probably not, but I will delve deep for any random meaningless connections that I can make.<\/p>\n
